End Citizens United Blasts House Republicans for Robbing Working Families to Fund a Billionaire Tax Giveaway

 Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United, issued the following statement in response to the House Republicans’ passage of their billionaires-first tax and spend bill:

“While Trump is cashing in on his presidency through corrupt crypto schemes and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gifts from foreign governments looking for favors, congressional Republicans are ripping away health care and food from millions of working families to bankroll tax handouts for their billionaires donors. MAGA governance was never about lowering costs or building an economy that works for all––it’s always been about protecting Trump, further enriching billionaires, and handing working Americans the bill.

“This bill is a vicious betrayal of working families to line the pockets of the ultra-wealthy. House Republicans should be ashamed of themselves, and we will hold them accountable in the midterms.” 

Earlier this month, ECU President Tiffany Muller briefed congressional Democrats, staff, and allies on new polling and focus group research commissioned by the organization, which shows that Americans across the political spectrum overwhelmingly support efforts to root out corruption in Washington. As Muller explained, the data shows that strong anti-corruption messaging is particularly effective at reaching independent voters in battleground congressional districts—a key demographic for Democrats seeking to regain control of the House of Representatives. 

With the midterm elections approaching, ECU is leading the effort to hold congressional Republicans responsible for their complicity in the Trump White House’s unprecedented corruption.
