End Citizens United Endorses Mary Peltola for Alaska Senate

Peltola’s “Taking on the Rigged System” sweeping anti-corruption policy platform would set a new standard in Washington

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Mary Peltola for U.S. Senate in Alaska. Peltola released a comprehensive anti-corruption platform yesterday underscoring her commitment to restoring accountability in government.

“Mary Peltola understands that corruption in Washington has real and devastating consequences for working families in Alaska. It shows up in higher costs for everyday essentials, fewer opportunities, and a government that’s less accountable to the people it’s supposed to serve,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Alaskans expect their leaders to be straight with them and to do the job the right way. Mary brings that kind of independence and integrity that’s been missing from the Senate. We’re proud to endorse her and look forward to helping her win.”

“The only way to drive down costs and put Alaska first is to take on the rigged system that’s letting corrupt politicians feather their own nests, ” said Mary Peltola. “As an independent voice for Alaska, I’ll stand up to anyone to clean up the corruption in Congress – because our representatives should be answering to the people, not lining their own pockets or doing the bidding of special interests. I've seen firsthand just how broken DC is, but with the help of Alaskans, we’re going to fix it this November.”

Peltola is running to clean up the culture of corruption in Washington that enables self-dealing and prioritizes special interests. The “Taking on the Rigged System” agenda would:

  • Increase transparency in political spending, crack down on dark money, and fight to overturn Citizens United

  • Ban members of Congress and their families from trading individual stocks and require them to divest assets or set up blind trusts

  • Prohibit elected officials from serving on corporate boards

  • Ban gifts from foreign governments and strengthen enforcement against illegal foreign campaign contributions

  • Strengthen ethics enforcement and independent oversight by fully funding the Office of Congressional Ethics and establishing a new Senate Ethics Office

  • Establish 12-year term limits for members of Congress

  • Crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse to ensure taxpayer dollars serve the public, not politicians or special interests
