ECU Celebrates DNC Move to Limit Corporate and Dark Money in 2028 Presidential Primary

WASHINGTON, DC — Tiffany Muller, president of the national campaign finance reform group End Citizens United, issued the following statement applauding the unanimous approval of a resolution to rein in the influence of corporate and dark money in Democratic presidential primaries by the Democratic National Committee's resolutions panel this week.

“This vote marks an important step forward in the fight against the power of big money in politics. I’m grateful to DNC Chair Ken Martin for his leadership on this vital issue,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “Importantly, it also exposes a clear divide between the parties. While the DNC is demonstrating a tangible commitment to restoring voter confidence in the democratic process, Republicans are busy kowtowing to the authoritarian whims of a president more focused on giving handouts to billionaire donors than serving working Americans."

Muller continued: “There is no sugarcoating the long and difficult path ahead to right the wrongs of the disastrous Citizens United ruling and reclaim our democracy from billionaire interests, but this resolution offers a hopeful sign that Democrats can unite to reshape our political institutions and demand lasting change.”

Muller, a nationally recognized expert on campaign finance regulation, is available to comment further on this development and its broader impact on Democratic politics and democracy as a whole.
