End Citizens United Blasts Latest GOP Attack on Mail-In Voting as Supreme Court Takes Up Case on Postmarked Ballots
WASHINGTON, DC — End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement in response to news that the Supreme Court will consider a Republican-led challenge aimed at blocking states from counting mail-in ballots postmarked by, but arriving shortly after, Election Day.
“Once again, Republicans are weaponizing the courts to attack the right to vote by mail, a secure, popular, and widely used process that Trump has long sought to sabotage. Make no mistake: Refusing to count ballots postmarked by Election Day would silence voters whose mail is delayed through no fault of their own, most egregiously the brave service members casting votes from overseas to ensure they are represented in the country they risk their lives to defend.
“Every American, whether a senior voting by mail or a soldier casting a ballot from a military base abroad, deserves to have their vote counted. Anything less is an unacceptable and politically motivated attack on democracy.”
