End Citizens United Celebrates Maine Voters’ Rejection of Question 1 as a Win for Democracy
End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the defeat of Question 1 in Maine — a ballot measure that would have dismantled Maine’s absentee voting system and sharply limited voter access.
“This is a victory for working people, seniors, and voters with disabilities — groups who rely on absentee ballots to make their voices heard. Question 1 would have torn down Maine’s absentee voting system and imposed one of the strictest voter ID regimes in the country. By rejecting it, Mainers sent a clear message: they stand for equal access to the ballot and a stronger, more inclusive democracy.”
