End Citizens United Denounces Trump’s Authoritarian Targeting of NY Attorney General Letitia James
WASHINGTON, DC — Tiffany Muller, president of the anti-corruption organization End Citizens United, issued the following statement in response to the indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James.
“Today’s baseless targeting of Attorney General James isn’t justice—it’s authoritarian vengeance by a deeply unhinged, unfit president. Donald Trump is weaponizing the powers of the state to target, investigate, and punish his political enemies. This is a direct attack on the rule of law and our democracy.”
The Department of Justice’s move against James comes on the heels of federal charges against former FBI Director James Comey, following President Donald Trump’s public push to see him prosecuted. Amid a growing wave of legal actions targeting the president’s political enemies, Attorney General Pam Bondi this week dodged questions about Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, who was caught on film accepting a $50,000 cash bribe.
The charges against James and Comey follow a Truth Social post in which Trump explicitly urged Bondi to prosecute his political opponents without delay, underscoring a pattern of using state power to punish rivals.
Muller, a nationally recognized expert on political corruption, is available for further comment on this development and the dangerous culture of corruption that has come to define the Trump administration.
