End Citizens United Hails Pennsylvania Supreme Court Election Results as a Major Win for Democracy

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the outcome of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court retention election:

“Tonight, Pennsylvanians took a stand for fairness and the rule of law. By retaining Justices Donohue, Dougherty, and Wecht, they ensured the state’s highest court remains an independent check against partisan power grabs — one that could be the last line of defense against efforts by Donald Trump and his MAGA allies to sow chaos and distrust in the 2028 presidential election.

“Even the outsized influence of billionaire funder Jeffrey Yass, who has bankrolled Pennsylvania Supreme Court elections over the last two cycles, was unable to sway the outcome — a result that carries ramifications far beyond Pennsylvania, safeguarding democracy not just for this state, but for the entire country. End Citizens United is proud to celebrate this victory for the rule of law and democratic integrity.”

In the lead-up to tonight’s election, End Citizens United mobilized its vast grassroots network to reach voters in every corner of Pennsylvania. ECU organizers sent more than 300,000 texts to eligible voters highlighting the high stakes of the Supreme Court race, educating voters about the three justices, and encouraging Pennsylvanians to make a plan to vote — all critical efforts that helped secure this pivotal victory.
