PRESS RELEASE

ECU Congratulates State Representative Lindsay James on Primary Win in Iowa’s 2nd District

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed State Representative Lindsay James on winning the Democratic primary in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District:

“We are thrilled to congratulate Lindsay James on this well-earned victory. Iowans showed up for her today because she is a champion for working families. Lindsay James has spent her career fighting for Iowans, and she's going a step further in her congressional campaign by refusing to take a dime of corporate PAC money. In this competitive primary, voters rewarded that integrity and put their trust in a candidate who will reform our broken system, not protect the status quo. We are proud to have endorsed Rep. James and look forward to helping her win in November.”

ECU endorsed State Rep. Lindsay James in April. As a state representative and chaplain, she is a trusted voice who listens to and stands up for people across Iowa. She believes that the government should serve the people, not the powerful special interests. In the legislature, Rep. James worked across party lines to expand access to affordable insulin, protect mobile home residents from predatory corporate landlords, and advocate for affordable housing. She has championed policies that strengthen communities from the ground up so that no one — no child, farmer, or working family — gets pushed aside.

Lindsay James is part of Unrig Washington, a coalition launched by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics. Her commitment to real reform makes her well-positioned to gain public support and flip a key Republican seat in Congress.
