End Citizens United’s Anti-Corruption Push Expands with 40 New Candidates Joining the ‘Unrig Washington’ Campaign Ahead of the 2026 Midterms
WASHINGTON — End Citizens United (ECU), one of the nation’s leading anti-corruption organizations, today announced that 40 new Democratic members of Congress and congressional candidates from across the country have joined the second wave of supporters of its “Unrig Washington” campaign — a bold new standard for Democrats to show their commitment to cleaning up Washington and putting voters first.
Since its September debut — launched with early supporters including Senators Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Representatives Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07), Greg Casar (TX-35), and Jason Crow (CO-06) — the Unrig Washington campaign has continued to build momentum as the country moves closer to the 2026 midterm elections. So far, 120+ candidates from across the Democratic political spectrum—incumbents, challengers, progressives, and moderates alike—have signed on, underscoring that fighting corruption is a unifying cause and a clear contrast to Republicans who have doubled down on defending a corrupt system.
New additions to the nationwide anti-corruption campaign include Illinois Lieutenant Governor and U.S. Senate candidate Juliana Stratton, Tennessee State Representative and congressional candidate Aftyn Behn. Click here to see the full list of candidates.
Unrig Washington is centered around three critical anti-corruption reforms that voters are demanding:
Ban Congressional Stock Trading: Support legislation to prohibit members of Congress from trading individual stocks. Public office is a place to serve, not to profit.
Refuse Corporate PAC Money: Reject all contributions from corporate PACs to send a clear message: Elected officials' priorities are the people, not powerful corporations or billionaire special interests.
Crack Down on Dark Money: Fight to end the flood of undisclosed political spending by supporting legislation to expose secret donors, increase transparency, and fix the FEC to have a cop on the beat. It's time to end the dominance of billionaire-funded special interest groups.
“Voters are fed up with politicians profiting from stock trades, selling out to corrupt corporations, and letting billionaires buy influence in our elections,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Unrig Washington is gaining steam, with Democratic candidates across the political spectrum stepping up to show they hear voters’ concerns and are serious about rooting out corruption in the federal government. This isn’t just good policy—it’s smart politics that can help deliver a Democratic House majority in the midterms.”
“I’m in this race because corruption in Washington is failing everyday Illinoisans, and we need leaders ready to fight back,” said Illinois Lieutenant Governor and U.S. Senate candidate Juliana Stratton. “Refusing corporate PAC money, banning congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics should be the baseline for any Democrat that's serious about fighting corruption. End Citizens United is leading the push to hold Washington accountable, and I’m proud to be on the front lines with them.”
“Tennesseans are fed up with corrupt billionaires and corporations buying our democracy out from under us,” said Tennessee State Representative and congressional candidate Aftyn Behn. “They also know that nothing will fundamentally change until Congress cleans up its own act, starting with commonsense anti-corruption measures like banning members from getting rich off of stock trading. That’s why ECU’s Unrig Washington campaign is so important right now, and I’m proud to be fighting alongside them to reclaim a government that works for the people.”
ECU battleground polling shows that by focusing on fighting corruption and championing popular reforms—like those outlined in the Unrig Washington—Democrats can win back key voting blocs necessary to flip the House next November.
End Citizens United will spotlight candidates who take the Unrig Washington program, making sure voters know the leaders that are stepping up to clean up Washington. The organization will elevate their voices in the national reform conversation, connect them with grassroots supporters, provide strategic research and messaging guidance, and feature them across earned and digital media.
