End Citizens United Applauds Aftyn Behn’s Impressive Overperformance in Deep-Red District

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, congratulated Tennessee State Representative Aftyn Behn for running a reform-driven campaign that turned a district Trump won by 22 points into a single-digit margin. Behn shattered expectations by making anti-corruption the central message of her campaign, proving that it’s a salient issue among voters even in a deep-red district.

“What Aftyn achieved is a political wake up call,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “At a moment when voters are angry at Washington, overwhelmed by the cost of living, and fed up with a system that only works for the powerful and rich, Aftyn took on the corruption that fuels it all. Her message of rejecting corporate PAC money, banning congressional stock trading, and taking on dark money resonated with voters across the political spectrum in a dark-red district. Her campaign is a lesson for Democrats heading into the midterms: Running against corruption works and will lead to wins across the country in 2026.”

Behn received ECU's endorsement and joined the organization's “Unrig Washington” campaign, a nationwide effort centered on three key reforms: banning congressional stock trading, refusing corporate PAC money, and cracking down on dark money in politics. Her campaign demonstrates compelling proof that campaigning against corruption is a powerful message for Democrats even in the toughest political terrain.
