End Citizens United Endorses Analilia Mejia for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District
Mejia is rejecting corporate PAC money, committed to ending dark money, and supports banning congressional stock trading
End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Analilia Mejia for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District. Mejia is part of Unrig Washington, a coalition launched by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.
“In a system rigged for billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians, Analilia Mejia refuses to be bought by special interests,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Mejia knows what’s possible when people band together, organize, and demand change. She has fought for working families in New Jersey her whole life, from winning a $15 minimum wage and paid sick leave to empowering women in the workforce. Her decision to reject corporate PAC money makes clear that she’s running to stand with working people, not the wealthy and well connected. We are proud to endorse Analilia Mejia.”
"I’m proud to have the support of End Citizens United because the biggest problem in our politics is the outsized role big money plays in our economy and our democracy,” said Analilia Mejia. “It’s why the scales of influence tilt toward the ultra-powerful at the expense of working people—and why costs keep rising for food, housing, and health care. It’s time to put people at the center of our politics, not billionaires or special interests. That’s how we win real victories on universal health care and child care and bring down everyday costs."
Analilia Mejia grew up in Glen Ridge and started her career as a union organizer, serving as director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance. She was later the National Political Director for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign and served as Deputy Director of the Women's Bureau at the Department of Labor under President Biden. She is currently the co-executive director of the grassroots advocacy group Popular Democracy. Mejia has spent her career pursuing a fairer economy that works for everyday people. Mejia is part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program, where he joins 140 Democratic candidates and counting in rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
