End Citizens United Endorses Four Anti-Corruption Champions for Congress
End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed four Democratic congressional candidates in key battleground districts. All four candidates are part of Unrig Washington, a coalition launched by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.
The endorsed candidates are:
Randy Villegas (CA-22)
Brian Poindexter (OH-07)
Kristina Knickerbocker (OH-10)
Tom Perriello (VA-05)
“Voters will face a critical choice this November between corrupt politicians who only serve their own interests and their donors, and fighters who are committed to real reform,” said End Citizens United Tiffany Muller. “Each of these four candidates has a proven record of standing up for working people and taking on special interests. They are rejecting corporate PAC money because they answer to voters, not to Big Money. We’re proud to endorse them and stand with them as they challenge crooked Republican incumbents and fight to reform Washington so it can finally serve the people again.”
“I’m grateful for the endorsement of End Citizens United,” said Randy Villegas. “It’s time to get corruption out of our government and ensure that Congress serves the people, not corporations. Too many politicians take big campaign donations and then vote for legislation that increases profits while raising the cost of living for hard-working people. End Citizens United is working to stop the influence of Big Money in politics, and I’m proud to be part of that important mission.”
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United,” said Brian Poindexter. “Too many politicians in Washington take advantage of a broken campaign finance system that puts wealthy corporations over working people. I’m ready to take on corruption and make the government work for our communities, not for corporate interests or billionaires. I look forward to working with End Citizens United to win this election and start spearheading change in Congress.”
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United,” said Kristina Knickerbocker. “I’ve seen how the medical system fails people, and it’s because big health care companies are too powerful in Washington, DC. Nobody should have to decide between getting life-changing care and putting groceries on the table for their family. I’m running to take on the special interests that are making our daily lives unaffordable, and I’m grateful for End Citizens United’s partnership in this mission.”
“I’m thrilled to be endorsed by End Citizens United, because corruption is killing us,” said former Rep. Tom Perriello. “Congress is kicking families off healthcare and jacking up costs so they can give kickbacks to dark money donors. I don’t take a dime from lobbyists or corporate PACs, so I appreciate the support from End Citizens United and their commitment to ending legalized corruption in Washington.”
From labor unions to the Air Force, each of these candidates have shown a lifelong commitment to serving their community. As they seek to flip key Republican seats, ECU will work to ensure that voters know who will champion the working class and root out corruption in Congress.
