End Citizens United Endorses Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan for Minnesota Senate

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan for Senate in Minnesota. Flanagan is also part of Unrig Washington, a coalition started by ECU in which candidates reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.

“Lieutenant Governor Flanagan knows that when corporate money dominates our elections, working families are the ones who pay the price through higher costs, lower wages, and an economy that feels out of reach,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “She has spent her career taking on those fights, from raising the minimum wage to championing paid family and medical leave. By rejecting corporate PAC money, she’s making it clear that she answers to Minnesotans, not corporate special interests. We are proud to endorse Lieutenant Governor Flanagan and look forward to helping her win in November.”

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of End Citizens United,” said Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan. “I’m not taking a dime of corporate PAC money because I believe big corporations have enough representation in Washington. I want to be beholden to Minnesotans, not to special interests. If we’re serious about unrigging our democracy, we have to reverse Citizens United, get dark money out of our elections, and make sure public service is actually about serving the public.”

Lieutenant Governor Flanagan is running to hold Washington accountable to the people it’s supposed to serve by cracking down on corruption and the influence of corporate money in politics. She is part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program, where she joins 140 Democratic candidates and counting in running a campaign centered on transparency and accountability. Flanagan is rejecting corporate PAC money, supports a ban on congressional stock trading, and is committed to cracking down on dark money in politics. Her campaign is focused on ending the special treatment powerful special interests receive in Washington and making sure families and workers have a real voice in the decisions that shape their costs, wages, economic security, and future.
