Recap: ECU and Representative Lindsay James Call for Anti-Corruption Reform at Dubuque Town Hall

Dubuque, IA — End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today hosted a town hall on government accountability with State Representative Lindsay James, Democratic nominee for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.

ECU President Tiffany Muller sat down with Rep. James to discuss how corruption has enabled skyrocketing costs and why the next representative for Iowa’s 2nd District should be a fighter for working families. James is centering her campaign on building a government that answers to the people, which includes banning congressional stock trading and stopping members of Congress from becoming lobbyists.

“Today, we heard directly from a room full of Iowans, and they are fed up with this corrupt system that only serves the wealthy and powerful,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “We had a great conversation with Lindsay about how to change that. She has a real plan to crack down on special interests so that Washington can focus on the things that matter to working people, like bringing down costs and standing up to big corporations. We need more leaders in Congress who are committed to fighting corruption, which is why we’re so excited to be supporting Lindsay James.”

Rep. James is rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a congressional stock trading ban, and committing to help get dark money out of elections as part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program. She also earned ECU’s endorsement in April. As a legislator and chaplain, she is a trusted voice known for championing working people across Iowa. Her opponent is a career politician and lobbyist whose agenda would primarily serve special interests.
