PRESS RELEASE

ECU President: “The most un-American, undemocratic, and shameful use of the bully pulpit.”

End Citizens United President: “The most un-American, undemocratic, and shameful use of the bully pulpit.”

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement responding to Donald Trump’s address to the nation on election integrity:

“Tonight, Donald Trump tried to sell the American people a lie. The reason is simple: He wants to take over our elections and rig November for Republicans. This is the most un-American, undemocratic, and shameful use of the bully pulpit. Courts, audits, and election officials from both parties have repeatedly proven that our elections are fair and there is no widespread voter fraud. But in his relentless pursuit of power, he has chosen lies over facts to justify making it harder for eligible Americans to vote.

“Everyone can see the writing on the wall. Republicans are headed for a loss in the midterms because voters are fed up with their corrupt governance that only serves billionaires at the expense of working families. Instead of winning on ideas and providing relief to the American people, he’s trying to change the rules to help his party. But unfortunately for Donald Trump, the American people will have the final say, and no amount of fear-mongering will change that.”
