End Citizens United, a leading national anti-corruption organization, is highlighting three questions that reporters should ask Rep. Ciscomani before he jets back to Washington. In Congress, he has been focused on cashing in corporate PAC money and pandering to corporate donors even as families in his district deal with a rapidly worsening cost of living crisis.

These questions get to the heart of the pay-to-play approach to governing and how his relationships with special interests have influenced his votes in Congress at the expense of his constituents.

You have taken over a million dollars from corporate PACs over your career and rewarded your donors with generous tax benefits, deregulation, and higher profits. Those same corporations keep raising costs on your constituents. How can you justify continuing to take their money and refusing to hold them accountable?
You have regularly sided with the gun lobby and with predatory insurance companies, voting for legislation that puts your constituents’ safety and health at risk. For example, you have voted against a rule that would have kept weapons out of the wrong hands and co-sponsored H.R.38, which would have allowed people to carry concealed firearms across more states. What will it take for you to stop accepting the support of these special interests and stand up for the people you’re supposed to represent?
Your campaigns have benefited to the tune of $100,000 from the family of David Mehl, a real estate developer who also sits on Arizona’s redistricting commission. He’s also used his power to redraw district lines to help you get elected. You’ve consistently voted in the interest of real estate developers like Mehl, including offering them generous tax incentives. What do you have to say for this blatant quid pro quo?
