RAHWAY, NJ — Today, congressional candidate Rebecca Bennett joined End Citizens United for a press conference about fighting corruption. With one week until early voting opens in New Jersey, it focused on how to hold Rep. Tom Kean Jr. accountable for cashing in rather than serving the district.

Bennett’s commitment to anti-corruption reform stands in sharp contrast to Rep. Kean, who had made hundreds of stock trades while in Congress and catered to corporate donors. Powerful billionaires, from Donald Trump to Elon Musk, have started pouring money into this race because they are afraid of her plan to limit Big Money. At the press conference, Bennett and ECU President Tiffany Muller drew the direct link between political self-dealing and the rising cost of living hitting working families.

“Tom Kean Jr. and Republicans in Congress haven't lifted a finger to lower the cost of living because they only serve their billionaire donors and their own financial interests,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Leaders like Rebecca Bennett are going to change that culture of corruption. That starts with policies like a real ban on congressional stock trading and getting corporate money out of politics, which we already know voters support. We had a great event today about the reform agenda that Rebecca is promising to bring to Washington. New Jersey families deserve a representative who works for them, not his stock portfolio. That's Rebecca Bennett.”

“New Jerseyans should always know that our representatives are working for us, not lining their own financial pockets,” said Rebecca Bennett. “Tom Kean Jr. is part of the problem, trading millions of dollars in stocks since first taking office. I’m running to tackle corruption in congress, ban stock trading, and get dark money out of politics. I was glad to welcome ECU to Rahway today to talk about how we can fight corruption and lower costs in Washington.”

Rep. Kean is known for profiting while in office, including making multiple stock trades while on four-month leave of absence for mental health care. ECU designated him one of the Most Corrupt Politicians of 2026 for a series of self-dealing activities, from accepting hundreds of thousands in corporate PAC donations to being one of the most prolific stock traders in Congress despite campaigning on a pledge to place his assets in a blind trust. In contrast, Bennett earned ECU’s endorsement for championing a real anti-corruption platform. She is also one of over 300 Democrats who have joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program by refusing corporate PAC money, backing a ban on congressional stock trading, and committing to help crack down on dark money in elections.
