PRESS RELEASE

End Citizens United Endorses Slate of Anti-Corruption Leaders in Seven Congressional Races

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed anti-corruption reform champions in seven congressional races.

The newly endorsed candidates include:

  • Congressman Christian Menefee in TX-18

  • Luke Bronin in CT-01

  • Representative Dr. Jasmine Clark in GA-13

  • Matt Little in MN-02

  • Assemblymember Claire Valdez in NY-07

  • Assemblymember Micah Lasher in NY-12

  • Darializa Avila Chevalier in NY-13

“Working families have been put through the wringer — from monopoly price gouging and devastating health care cuts to a reckless war that’s driving up the costs of basic necessities,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “None of this is inevitable. These are the consequences of choices made by Republicans in Congress, who put the demands of powerful special interests ahead of the needs of working families. Americans are demanding change. These seven leaders are among a new class of anti-corruption reformers who are meeting this moment. We’re proud to endorse them and look forward to helping them win in November.”

“Washington is in the habit of serving corporations and billionaires, while leaving working people behind,” said Congressman Christian Menefee. “I will always fight for Texans and stand up to the special interests trying to influence policy by bankrolling political campaigns. I’ve spent my life speaking truth to power. I’m honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United and work with them to finally unrig our system.”

“Washington is broken in part because the flood of unlimited money has distorted and corrupted our politics,” said Luke Bronin. “I’ve refused to take corporate PAC money, and I’ll work in Congress to ban stock trading by members, overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision, and rein in dark money. If we want our government to deliver for ordinary people again, we have to get serious about fundamental reforms. That’s why I’m proud to earn the endorsement of End Citizens United.”

“I proudly accept this endorsement by End Citizens United because I know when government is beholden to special interests, corporations and billionaire donors, our communities feel it,” said Dr. Jasmine Clark. “We feel it in our wallets and we feel it when policies don’t match what communities want or need. The connection between government corruption and our economic pain is real. This is why I will continue to be a fighter for Georgia’s families and for getting dark money out of politics.”

“Big donors have been buying more and more influence in DC, and it drowns out everyone else,” said Matt Little. “Like so many Minnesota families, I’m tired of seeing our government work for greedy corporations and turn a blind eye to price gouging. I’m thankful for the endorsement of End Citizens United. We need to fight for a real anti-corruption agenda and build a system that finally lowers costs for hard-working people.”

"The billionaire class has ensured that corporate America can buy unlimited power and access in Washington,” said New York Assemblymember Claire Valdez. “I will never take money from corporate PACs. Working people deserve a real voice in Congress. I’ll stand up to corruption and fight for policies that serve them. That’s why I’m proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United.”

“I’m proud to have the endorsement of End Citizens United, a group dedicated to fighting corruption and getting dark money out of our politics,” said Micah Lasher. “In New York, I introduced legislation to end corporate political spending, and I’m ready to take that fight to Washington to stand up to special interests and ensure our democracy belongs to voters, not corporations.”

“Our government has put the interests of its billionaire donors ahead of everyone else, and our communities are paying for this corruption,” said Darializa Avila Chevalier. “While corporations get tax handouts, working families are spending more on gas, groceries, and health care. It’s time to get money out of politics and fight for a system that will lower costs, instead of padding corporate profits. I’m thankful for the endorsement of End Citizens United as we work to reform a deeply broken system.”
