ECU Endorses Rebecca Bennett in NJ-07
End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Rebecca Bennett in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Bennett is part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program for candidates that reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.
“Families in New Jersey are getting economically squeezed, and Tom Kean Jr. has been nowhere to be found. He is too busy trading stocks and protecting his donors to deliver for working families, and his constituents are suffering because of it,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Rebecca Bennett will be a different kind of Member of Congress, one who will take on corruption and prioritize the interests of everyday people. She’s backing up that commitment by refusing to take corporate PAC money, so that New Jerseyans will never have to guess who she’s working for. We are proud to endorse Rebecca and look forward to helping her win in November.”
“End Citizens United is leading the fight to get big money out of politics and build a government that works for the people, not special interests,” said Rebecca Bennett. “Tom Kean Jr. has spent more time looking out for powerful donors and special interests than showing up for the people he was elected to serve. We need to ban congressional stock trading, strengthen ethics laws, and restore trust in our democracy by reducing the influence of money in politics. I’m honored to have End Citizens United’s endorsement and look forward to working alongside them to flip this seat in November and deliver the accountability New Jersey families deserve.”
Rebecca Bennett has been an effective leader from the armed services to the health care system. She served as a Navy helicopter pilot and an Air National Guard officer, and later worked to expand health care access and quality to patients across the country. As part of the Unrig Washington program, she joins over 200 Democratic candidates in committing to real reform and integrity measures. Learn more about the campaign here.
Bennett’s opponent, Representative Tom Kean Jr., has continued raking in capital gains despite not voting or appearing in public for three months. After campaigning on a pledge to place his assets in a blind trust, he has since become one of the most prolific stock traders in Congress. ECU named him to its 2026 Most Corrupt Politicians List for accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in corporate PAC donations, with less than four percent of contributions coming from small donors in 2024, and using his committee position to cozy up to oil and pharmaceutical companies.
