PRESS RELEASE

End Citizens United Endorses James Talarico for U.S. Senate in Texas

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Texas State Representative James Talarico for U.S. Senate. Early on in his campaign, Talarico joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program for candidates who reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics. His reform message offers a powerful contrast to Ken Paxton’s decades-long record of corruption.

“James Talarico is inspiring millions of Texans because they know he’ll take on the rot and corruption in government that’s making life harder for working families,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Texans are fed up with corrupt politicians like Ken Paxton who run for office just to serve their big donors and themselves. James is offering a different vision, one focused on accountability, opportunity, and making life more affordable. His refusal to take corporate PAC money isn’t just a campaign pledge. It’s proof that he won’t become part of the same broken system he’s fighting to change. We are proud to endorse James and look forward to helping him win in November.”

James Talarico is building a people-powered movement across Texas while not taking any money from corporate PACs. He recognizes that Texans are being squeezed by higher costs and are frustrated by a government that only acts on behalf of wealthy GOP donors, and he’s making reform a central part of his campaign. He has said that his first action in Congress would be to pursue legislation to ban super PACs and corporate PACs, among other accountability measures. In the Texas state legislature, Rep. Talarico has led the fight against billionaire influence and is the only member who has never accepted corporate PAC money. He has called out Ken Paxton for his extensive record of corruption, including a litany of lawsuits and a 2023 impeachment by the Texas House of Representatives on charges of bribery and abuse of office.

Talarico joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program as one of the early participants, and the group has now expanded to more than 250 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
