PRESS RELEASE

End Citizens United Endorses Don Leonard for Ohio’s 15th Congressional District

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Don Leonard in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District. Leonard is part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program for candidates that reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.

“Working people in Central Ohio are being left behind while billionaires rake it in,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Washington is rigged to work for special interests and powerful donors, and families are paying the price every single day. Don Leonard is running to change that. He refuses to take a dime of corporate PAC money because he only answers to Ohioans, not to wealthy donors. We are proud to endorse Don and look forward to helping him win in November.”

"Mike Carey has spent the last 5 years in Congress doing the exact same job he did for 20 years before he got elected - protecting the profits of Billionaires and corporate interests at the expense of our communities,” said Don Leonard. “Carey runs to collect corporate PAC checks. I’m running because our neighbors and our kids deserve better. It’s way past time to root out the forces that have captured our government, corrupted our politics, and re-written the rules to create a system that is designed to let working families down. I’m grateful for the endorsement of End Citizens United and look forward to working with them to build a new system that truly works for us.”

As a professor at The Ohio State University for ten years, Don Leonard has worked to teach the next generation of leaders. He is running to take on a corrupt culture in Washington that has allowed big donors and corporations to prevent progress on the issues affecting working families. A recent Tavern Research poll put Leonard only three points behind his opponent, Rep. Mike Carey, in a district that voted for Donald Trump by 10 points in 2024. Carey is a major recipient of corporate PAC money, accepting donations from special interests and utility companies that have hiked prices on Ohioans.

Leonard is also part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program, where he joins over 200 Democratic candidates in rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics. Learn more about the campaign here.
