ECU Congratulates Shannon Taylor on Winning the Democratic Primary in Virginia’s 1st District

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed Shannon Taylor on winning the Democratic primary in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Shannon Taylor on winning her primary. She’s running this campaign the right way by refusing to take corporate PAC money and putting Virginians first. Voters chose her because they trust her to clean up the rot and corruption in Washington. She’s ready to take on career-politician Congressman Rob Wittman, whose allegiance to his corporate special interest donors has been a disaster for working families. We’re proud to back Shannon in this critical House race, and look forward to helping her bring new leadership to Virginia’s First District.”

ECU endorsed Shannon Taylor in June. Taylor has made anti-corruption reform a defining issue in her campaign, connecting it to her experience as a prosecutor fighting injustice. Taylor is also a member of ECU’s Unrig Washington program, alongside more than 260 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics. Her opponent, Congressman Rob Wittman, earned himself a spot on ECU’s 2026 Most Corrupt Politicians List by taking millions in corporate PAC money and delivering favorable policies for his biggest donors, rather than his constituents.
