PRESS RELEASE

ECU Congratulates Paige Cognetti on Democratic Nomination in Pennsylvania’s 8th District

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed Mayor Paige Cognetti on securing the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District:

“We are thrilled to congratulate Mayor Paige Cognetti. As we turn to the general election, this race will present voters with a clear contrast between a candidate focused on public service and an opponent who has become the poster child of corruption. Mayor Cognetti is a proven reformer who will bring her experience from Scranton to crack down on the brazen corruption in Washington. She understands that when politicians go to Congress to beat the stock market and reward their big donors, working families suffer the consequences by paying more for everyday essentials. Representative Bresnahan’s days in office are numbered. He’s treated his time in Congress like a trading floor, and we’ll make sure voters remember his corruption.”

ECU endorsed Mayor Paige Cognetti in February. In April, Mayor Cognetti joined ECU President Tiffany Muller and Senator Mark Kelly for a town hall in Nanticoke, discussing how corruption directly impacts NEPA families and how to create reform. Cognetti is also part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program, where she joins more than 200 Democratic candidates in rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
