End Citizens United Endorses Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan. El-Sayed was an early participant in ECU’s Unrig Washington program for candidates who reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.

“Voters are hungry for change because Washington isn’t working for them,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Abdul El-Sayed is earning voters’ trust because he understands that. He’s calling out the corruption and rot in government, and he’s backing it up by refusing to take corporate PAC money. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed refuses to take corporate PAC money in his campaign. He has tapped into voter frustrations across Michigan by centering the issue of Big Money in politics and promising to crack down on government corruption. His career has focused on public health, from rebuilding a bankrupt Detroit Health Department to creating a program that is canceling up to $700 million in medical debt for Michiganders. He also helped design federal legislation to lower prescription drug prices. 

El-Sayed was one of the first candidates to join ECU’s Unrig Washington program, which has now grown to over 250 Democratic candidates who reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and commit to cracking down on dark money in politics. Learn more here.
