ECU Congratulates Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan on Winning the Primary for U.S. Senate in Minnesota

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan on winning the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Minnesota:

“Congratulations to Peggy Flanagan on a massive win. This race once again reinforced what we’ve seen all across the country this election cycle: voters want candidates to reject corporate PAC money and not be beholden to special interests.

“Lt. Gov. Flanagan ran on independence, accountability, and putting working families first — and beat nearly $20 million in outside spending against her. She understands that a government captured by special interests can’t deliver for everyday people. Her campaign demonstrated the power of standing firmly on principle, building trust with voters, and putting people at the center of every decision, and Minnesotans rewarded that vision. We’re proud to have supported Lt. Gov. Flanagan in the primary and look forward to helping her become Minnesota’s next Senator.”

ECU endorsed Flanagan in February and hosted a July town hall with her to call out the influence of Big Money in politics. Lieutenant Governor Flanagan is running to hold Washington accountable by cracking down on corruption and corporate dollars in politics. Her campaign is focused on ending the special treatment that powerful interests receive in Washington and ensuring that families and workers have a real voice in the decisions that shape their costs, wages, and economic security.
