PRESS RELEASE

End Citizens United Endorses Eli Savit for Michigan Attorney General

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Eli Savit for Michigan Attorney General. Savit is campaigning on his record of defending the rights of working people and refusing corporate PAC money.

“Michiganders are demanding leaders who aren’t afraid to hold the powerful accountable and end the corporate monopolies that are taking advantage of consumers,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Eli Savit is that kind of leader. He’s not in anyone’s pocket because he refuses corporate campaign donations, and he has always championed a system that puts working people first. We’re proud to be supporting him and look forward to helping him become the next Attorney General.”

“Special interests have bought too much influence in our political system,” said Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit. “Working people are paying the price in higher utility bills, more pollution in their communities, and less opportunity to voice their concerns. I’ve always put Michiganders over moneyed interests, and as Attorney General, I will never back down against predatory corporations and corrupt forces. I’m grateful for the endorsement of End Citizens United and look forward to working with them.”

As Washtenaw County Prosecutor and as legal counsel to the City of Detroit, Eli Savit has stood up to many of the most harmful special interests. His record includes leading lawsuits against the opioid industry and taking on tax-delinquent banks. He has also been a public school teacher, a law clerk to Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O’Connor, and an environmental lawyer holding big polluters accountable. By rejecting corporate PAC money, he has made it clear that he will keep standing up for Michiganders as Attorney General and never yield to greedy special interests.
