ECU Congratulates Tom Perriello on Primary Win in VA-05

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed Tom Perriello on winning the Democratic primary in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District:

Virginians know Tom has spent his career fighting for working families, strengthening our democracy, and putting people ahead of special interests. He refuses to let corporations dictate his priorities, which is exactly the kind of leadership voters are looking for. ECU endorsed Tom Perriello in April. Perriello brings a lifetime of experience in strengthening democracy and standing up for working people. He was the first statewide Democratic candidate in Virginia to refuse corporate donations, and he previously served in Congress after flipping Virginia’s deep-red fifth district in 2008. Perriello has joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program, alongside more than 260 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
