PRESS RELEASE

ECU Endorses Marlene Galán-Woods in AZ-01

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, today endorsed Marlene Galán-Woods in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. Galán-Woods is part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program for candidates who reject corporate PAC money, support a ban on congressional stock trading, and work to end dark money in politics.

“Marlene Galán-Woods is no stranger to taking on powerful forces and fighting corruption,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “As a journalist, she worked to protect public integrity, and she’s backing that up now by refusing to take a dime of corporate PAC money. She knows that Arizonans lose out when politicians are beholden to special interests — prices go up, and freedoms get taken away. This is a real opportunity for Arizonans to elect an accountable leader. We’re proud to endorse Marlene and look forward to helping her win.”

“MAGA Republicans take all the money they can get from corporations, billionaires, and corrupt special interests,” said Marlene Galán-Woods. “It’s time for some change. We need to focus on the issues that affect Arizonans each day, from creating good jobs to making sure people can afford their health care bills. I’ll work to hold corporate monopolies accountable for the harm they cause consumers and to make sure everyone, not just the powerful, has a say in our political system. I'm grateful to be in this fight with End Citizens United and to have their endorsement.”

Marlene Galán-Woods built a career in journalism by holding power to account and exposing corruption in government. She champions reforms like closing the revolving door of lobbyists, banning stock trading by government officials and their families, and ending corporate spending in elections. Galán-Woods has also joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program, alongside more than 250 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
