Governor Wes Moore Rallies for Anti-Corruption Reform in Baltimore with ECU and Stand Up America

Baltimore, MD — Today, Governor Wes Moore joined End Citizens United (ECU) and Stand Up America (SUA) in Baltimore for the latest stop of the Kick Out Corruption national tour, making the case that states like Maryland can show Washington how to root out corruption and restore government accountability.
Maryland residents turned out for the hour-long fireside chat––moderated by ECU President Tiffany Muller and SUA Executive Director Christina Harvey––examining corruption in the nation’s capital, its impact on working families, and reforms needed to address America’s corruption problem. During the discussion, Moore highlighted how the ethics and transparency measures he's championed in Maryland as a model for Washington.
"Americans see the brazen corruption happening every day in their government, and they are fed up and ready to fight back," said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. "Every dollar that goes into billionaire tax breaks and corporate favors is a dollar taken away from working families. Governor Wes Moore has shown what it looks like to actually deliver for Maryland families, cracking down on self-dealing and putting Marylanders ahead of special interests. We're grateful to Governor Moore for his leadership in the fight against corruption and to every person who turned up today, because it's going to take all of our energy, our votes, and our voices to make government work for the people."
“Americans are fed up with corruption in Washington and want leaders who will actually do something about it. The energy we saw in Baltimore today made that clear,” said Christina Harvey, Executive Director of Stand Up America. “Under Governor Moore, Maryland has shown what action on these issues can look like: strong ethics rules, greater transparency and real safeguards against public officials using their positions for private gain. Washington should take note.”
“Marylanders and working people around the country are tired of politicians taking away voters' power and using their offices to enrich themselves,” said Maryland Governor Wes Moore. “End Citizens United is helping lead the charge around the nation to hold the ultra wealthy and powerful accountable and I’m grateful to have had them in Baltimore to talk about the results we’ve delivered to root out corruption here in Maryland.”
As Governor, Moore has made anti-corruption reform a key part of his agenda. On his first day in office, he signed an executive order banning executive-branch employees from taking gifts from anyone doing business with their agency and from profiting from nonpublic government information. In 2025, he signed legislation requiring Maryland governors to place their financial interests in a blind trust or divest any holdings that could pose a conflict, closing the door on governors personally profiting off state business. Governor Moore is delivering on the kind of accountability Washington politicians talk about but rarely deliver.
The Kick Out Corruption Tour launched earlier this summer in Arizona with Senator Mark Kelly and continued with a stop in Missouri with Senator Elissa Slotkin. With midterms just a month away and the 2028 cycle about to gear up, the tour is bringing together national Democratic leaders and voters for conversations about how to combat the unprecedented corruption that has defined the Trump Administration.
