Hashmi has a strong legislative record of defending Virginians' rights and freedoms and is deeply committed to protecting every voice in our democracy.

As state senator, Ghazala Hashmi focused on protecting Virginians’ livelihoods—from helping draft a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights to writing the plan to protect Medicaid in Virginia. Hashmi believes in good government reforms to fix our broken campaign finance system, including banning political candidates from using campaign funds for personal use. As lieutenant governor, she will continue to push back hard on the Trump administration and will work with anyone to address the issues that Virginians most care about.
