PRESS RELEASE

ECU Congratulates Cait Conley on Winning Democratic Primary in New York's 17th C.D.

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating ECU-endorsed Cait Conley on winning the Democratic primary in New York’s 17th Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Cait Conley on winning her primary. New York families are facing higher costs, fewer opportunities, and an assault on their rights thanks to MAGA Mike Lawler’s failed leadership. He is the textbook example of a corrupt politician who answers to donors instead of their constituents. Cait will change that. She brings a new, higher standard to public service, one that Mike Lawler has completely failed to provide for New Yorkers. We are proud to have endorsed Cait in the primary and look forward to helping her flip this critical seat in November.”

ECU endorsed Cait Conley in May, citing her lifelong commitment to public service and fighting the corruption that produces corporate price-gouging and government inaction. Conley’s 16 years as an active-duty Army officer earned her three Bronze Stars, and she continued her service as the Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council. She later fought to protect election security and integrity at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. She is running for Congress to continue defending democracy in her hometown located in the Hudson Valley.

Conley offers a stark contrast to her opponent, Rep. Mike Lawler, a former lobbyist who funneled $500,000 in campaign funds to his own firm and has accepted over $875,000 in corporate PAC money since 2022. While Lawler was recently named to ECU’s 2026 Most Corrupt Politicians List, Conley has committed to a reform agenda as part of ECU’s Unrig Washington program. She joins more than 200 Democratic candidates in rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
