PRESS RELEASE

End Citizens United Congratulates No Corporate PAC Candidate Annie Andrews on Huge Upset Win

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement celebrating ECU-endorsed Representative-elect Annie Andrews’ victory:

“We’re excited to congratulate Senator-elect Annie Andrews on a huge win. South Carolina hasn’t had a Democratic senator in 20 years, but she flipped this seat by rejecting corporate PAC money and running on a bold promise to take on corruption in Washington. Her victory sends a powerful message running against corruption can win even in Republican strongholds. We’re proud she was one of over 300 Democrats on Unrig Washington, and we can’t wait to work with her.”

Senator-elect Annie Andrews ran a campaign focused on anti-corruption reform and putting the government back on the side of working families. At every opportunity on the campaign trail, she drew the connection between corruption and the inaction on issues that matter to South Carolina families. She joined ECU’s Unrig Washington program alongside more than 300 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.
