PRESS RELEASE

ECU Congratulates No Corporate PAC Candidate Paige Cognetti on Winning Pennsylvania’s 8th District

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement celebrating ECU-endorsed Representative-elect Paige Cognetti’s victory:

“Congratulations to Representative-elect Paige Cognetti on her impressive victory. Throughout her career she has proven that running as an anti-corruption reformer and putting people over money is one of the most powerful platforms to run on. NEPA voters are tired of seeing their representatives sell them out to corporate special interests, and they sent a loud and clear message by electing her today. Rep.-elect Cognetti is ready to shake things up. We're proud she was one of the 300 No Corporate PAC Democrats who joined Unrig Washington, and we are incredibly excited to work with her.”

ECU endorsed Rep.-elect Paige Cognetti and invested in digital ads to support her. ECU President Tiffany Muller also hosted a town hall with her in Luzerne County earlier this year, joined by Senator Mark Kelly. Rep.-elect Cognetti is also part of Unrig Washington alongside more than 300 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics. ECU designated Rob Bresnahan one of the Most Corrupt Politicians, ensuring voters were aware of his extensive record of stock trading and ethics violations.

From her very first bid for Mayor of Scranton, Rep.-elect Cognetti has centered the issue of corruption and branded her campaign as “Paige Against the Machine.” She has worked to curb the influence of special interests in local politics and ensure affordable living standards.
