PRESS RELEASE

ECU Congratulates No Corporate PAC Candidate Shannon Taylor on Winning in Virginia’s 1st District

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement celebrating ECU-endorsed Representative-Elect Shannon Taylor’s victory:

“Representative-elect Shannon Taylor secured an enormous win tonight by putting people over special interests. She’s spent her entire career holding power to account, and her agenda is laser-focused on getting Big Money out of politics. She never took a corporate PAC check while on the campaign trail, she joined Unrig Washington alongside 300 other Democrats, and she developed a platform that prioritizes anti-corruption reform. Today, voters rewarded her commitment to fighting for a future where government serves everyday people, not special interests. We look forward to working with her to bring long-awaited reform to Congress.”

ECU endorsed Rep.-elect Shannon Taylor and named Rep. Rob Wittman to its 2026 Most Corrupt Politicians List, making this race a top priority. In October, ECU hosted a town hall with Rep.-elect Taylor to discuss her plan to build accountability in Congress. She is also part of the Unrig Washington program alongside more than 300 Democratic candidates committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and cracking down on dark money in politics.

Rep.-elect Taylor made cleaning up corruption in Washington and holding politicians accountable the defining issue of her campaign. Her Serve the People First agenda focused on banning members of Congress from trading stocks, ending the lobbyist revolving door, and strengthening accountability for elected officials who abuse public office.
