PRESS RELEASE

More Than Half of Democrats Who Flipped House Seats Refused Corporate PAC Money

End Citizens United (ECU), a leading national anti-corruption organization, announced today that more than 50% of expected House districts flipped by Democrats are members of ECU’s Unrig Washington agenda.

Launched in 2025, ECU’s Unrig Washington brought Democrats together around three commitments: rejecting corporate PAC money, supporting a ban on congressional stock trading, and committing to helping crack down on dark money.

By the numbers:

  • 26 Unrig Washington candidates flipped Republican-held seats

  • Nearly 60% of all the DCCC’s Red to Blue candidates were Unrig Washington

  • 306 federal candidates in total joined Unrig Washington in the 2026 cycle

“We started Unrig Washington last year to unite Democrats around fighting corruption, and this election showed just how powerful that message was,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “These newly elected members have a mandate and an opportunity to make anti-corruption reform a top priority in the next Congress. We look forward to supporting them in those efforts.”

Unrig Washington gave Democrats a unified anti-corruption platform to rally around this cycle. ECU launched the program in September 2025 after research showed that Americans were increasingly frustrated with politicians who serve their corporate and billionaire donors. As the cycle progressed, Unrig Washington grew larger than any electoral program ECU has run before, and cleaning up corruption became the core rallying cry for Democrats nationwide.

ECU will be working with these new anti-corruption champions as they prepare for their first term in Congress, ensuring that reform is at the top of the Democratic legislative agenda.
